The City of Tansy Hollow
Who Is Josh Fippen?
The City of Tansy Hollow has its own historian. That person is Josh Fippen. But, you may ask, who is Josh Fippen, the person? Why does he chronicle the story of Tansy Hollow? Well, dear reader, we have the answer to this question--and more. Please read on...
Author and Tansy Hollow Historian Josh Fippen
Photographed here in 2007, Josh Fippen has always had an interest in erotic fiction, and his discovery of Tansy Hollow has given him the opportunity to document the lives of the gay guys who reside there.

Josh has always had a knack for storytelling. His imagination is a roiling cauldron from which wild and crazy and sexy stories bubble forth. Drawn from his own experiences--things that happened as well as those that could've happened--as well as stuff which is exclusively within the domain of his wild imaginings, his stories distill the loves and lusts, the angst and the exuberance, the joys of success and the
deadly pains of failure, and the extraordinariness of ordinary lives as people make their way through the world, searching for that elusive stuff known as happiness.
When he discovered Tansy Hollow in 2018, it was the result of a long search for a gay Shangri-La here in the modern day. Though far from perfect, Tansy Hollow is the ideal setting for gay guys to explore their hopes and dreams, look for love, suffer losses, and live the wonderful fabulousity of their lives.
For years, Josh has felt like an outsider in his own community. Finding those who share his experience, who share his interests and objectives has been oppressively difficult. Tansy Hollow has given him the community of his dreams, a place where he can vicariously live his dream life and do all the things he can't do in his ordinary life.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina on June 9, 1969 (6969), Josh grew up in the rural wilds outside of Summerville, SC in a place called Jedburg.
Always interested in writing since he was able to put words on paper, Josh realized his love of gay erotic fiction as a teen. But writing in this genre would be a challenge: back then, there wasn't much of an outlet for such literature. In fact, Josh bought his erotic fiction books from a couple of "adult bookstores" on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston. Big Jim's Video had a rack filled with mass-market paperbacks, and Josh found himself showing up there from time to time in his 1964 Valiant after dark to get more books. He didn't know of any other places which sold this kind of literature, and even in the adult bookstore, they didn't appear to be brisk sellers. If he were to write erotic fiction, it was to be strictly as a labor of love.
